The Padres got a run back in the fourth as, with two men on, and with one man out, Alberto Gonzalez hits an RBI single, knocking in Kyle Blanks, who had earlier singled, then stopped at second base on a Howard’s throwing error of Kyle Phillips’ grounder, making it a 5-2 Phils’ lead, while sending Phillips, who had reached base on Howard’s error, on to third. The Padres then cut the Phils’ lead down to 5-3 as Tim Stuaffer performed a suicide squeeze sacrifice bunt, 3-4, bringing home Philips, while sending Gonzalez to second base. But that would be the final score as Roy Halladay settled down and threw four straight scoreless innings, with the last three being quick 1-2-3 innings, before Antonio Bastardo came in and recorded his eighth save of the season as he pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.
