The Padres would get a run back in the sixth as, with one man out, Alonso hits a solo home run, his first home run of the season, making it a 4-3 Phils’ lead. The Phils would get the run back in their half of the sixth as, with one man on, and with one man out, Freddy Galvis hits an RBI double, knocking in Mayberry, who had earlier reached first base on a 5-4 force out, wiping out at second base Ruiz, who had begun the inning off with a walk, giving the Phils a 5-3 lead. The Padres then took a 2-0 lead as Nick Hundley hits a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Kotsay from third, before Venable is thrown out trying to move up to third base, 9-5, on a good throw by center fielder Shane Victorino, for the inning’s second out.
