The Phils got a run back in their half of the fifth as, with two men out, Dom Brown hits a solo home run, his first home run of the year, cutting the Reds’ lead down to 2-1. The Reds added an insurance run in the eighth as Jay Bruce hits a lead-off home run, his twenty-sixth home run of the year, giving the Reds a 3-1 lead. The D-backs retook the lead in the sixth as Paul Goldschmidt hits a solo home run, his sixteenth home run of the season, giving the D-backs a 4-3 lead. The Phils would retie the game at four-all in the eighth as, with a man on second, and with two men out, Brown hits a line drive towards the mound that would bounce off of David Hernandez, and then heads towards the first base line, which Dom would then beat out for an infield single, as Hernandez’s throw to first would hit Brown’s left hand. As this was going on, Mayberry, who had earlier singled, then moved up to second base on a wild pitch by Hernandez, would move up to third base on the play, slowing down as he touched the bag, before running home to score on Hernandez’s throwing error, beating catcher Henry Blanco’s tag. The Phils then won the game in the bottom of the ninth as, with the bases loaded, via a single by pinch hitter Juan Pierre, who moved up to second base on Nate Schierholtz’s sacrifice bunt, 5-3, a single by pinch hitter Laynce Nix, which sent Pierre to third base, an intentional walk to Utley, moving Nix up to second base, and with one man out, Ryan Howard hits an RBI single to right, knocking in Pierre, giving the Phils a 5-4 walk-off win.

Cliff Lee received a no-decision as he went eight innings, giving up four runs on eight hits, while he struck out five. The Nats increased their lead in the third as, with two men on, and with one man out, LaRoche hits an RBI single, knocking in Zimmerman, who had earlier reached base on an infield single, then stopped at second base on Michael Morse’s single, giving the Nats a 2-0 lead, while sending Morse, who had just singled, up to third base, before moving up to second base on the throw to the plate. The Nats then took a 3-0 lead as Jayson Werth hits an RBI ground out, 4-3, scoring Morse, while moving Zimmerman up to third base. That would end up being the final score as Tyler Clippard recorded his twenty-first save of the season by striking out Ryan Howard on a third called strike, with two men on base, for the final out.

Cole Hamels (11-6, 3.34) took the lost as he went seven innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk, while striking out nine. Michael Schwimer pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two walks, while striking out two. Ross Detwiler (6-4, 3.02) got the win as he pitched seven shutout innings, giving up just three hits and two walks, while striking out three. Sean Burnett collected his twenty-fourth hold of the year as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Tyler Clippard received his twenty-first save of the year as he pitched a scoreless inning, walking two batters, while striking out one.

The Brewers then made it a 2-0 lead as Corey Hart hits an RBI single, scoring Ramirez. The Phils got a run back in their half of the first as, with two men out, Chase Utley hits a solo home run, his fourth home run of the season, and his second home run in two days, making it a 2-1 Brewers’ lead. The Phils then tied it up at two-all as Ryan Howard’s long fly to left center field, originally called a double, is called a home run by the umpires after seeing that it had cleared the home run line along the fence, giving Howard his fourth home run of the season, and his third home run in the last four games. The Brewers regain the lead in the third as, with a man on second, and with nobody out, Ryan Braun hits an RBI single on a ball that bounces off of Howard’s glove, knocking in Gomez, who had started the inning off with a single, then stole second base, for his second steal of the night, giving the Brew Crew a 3-2 lead. The Brewers then made it a 6-2 lead in the fourth as, with two men on, and with two men out, Gomez hits a three-run home run, on a ball that hits the left field foul pole, his sixth home run of the season, knocking in Randy Wolf, who had earlier singled, then stopped at second base on Norichika Aoki’s single, and Aoki, who had just singled. The Phils would get a run back in the seventh as, with the bases loaded, via walks to Jimmy Rollins and Juan Pierre, who then perform a double steal, moving up to third and second base respectively, and a walk to Utley and with one man out, Rollins would score on catcher George Kottaras’ passed ball, cutting the Brewers’ lead down to 6-3, while allowing Pierre to move up to third base, and Utley to go to second base. The Phils then began a rally in the ninth as, after pinch hitter Laynce Nix struck out for the inning’s first out, Rollins  would get on base with a walk. Pierre followed with a single to right, sending Rollins all the way to third, putting runners on the corners. While Utley was batting, Pierre stole second base, his second steal of the game. Utley then walked, loading up the bases. Howard then came to the plate, and after falling behind in the count, 0-2, hits a single up the middle, knocking in Rollins and Pierre, cutting the Brewers’ lead down to 6-5, while sending Utley to third base. The Phils then tied the game up at six-all as Carlos Ruiz hits an RBI single, knocking in Utley, while moving Howard up to second base. Hunter Pence then worked a walk, reloading the bases, as Howard and Ruiz both moved up a base. Erik Kratz is then sent in to pinch run for Howard. Ty Wigginton then comes to the plate and hits a fly ball to left, that would score Kratz from third, beating the off-line throw to the plate, for the walk-off 7-6 win.

Roy Halladay received a no-decision as he threw six innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, a hit batter and a walk, while striking out three. Michael Schwimer and Jake Diekman would combine for two scoreless innings, walking two batters (one each) between them, while striking out four (two batters each). Joe Savery (1-2, 5.63) gets the win, his first career win, as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out a batter. Randy Wolf also got a no-decision as he also went six innings, as he gave up two runs on five hits and three walks, while striking out five. Manny Parra pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up an unearned run on three walks and a passed ball. John Axford received his first hold of the season as he threw one and one-third scoreless innings, striking out a batter. Francisco Rodriguez received his fifth blown save of the year before taking the lost (2-5, 4.47), as he pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs on three hits and three walks, while striking out a batter.

The game’s first seven innings saw a pitchers’ duel between Phils’ starter Kyle Kendrick, who gave up only four hits, one walk and a hit batter, while striking out five, as he kept out of trouble, and Braves’ starter Tim Hudson, who only allowed four hits, a walk and a hit batter to reach base, while he struck out none, before they both gave the game over to the bullpens, with Kendrick being taken out at the start of the eighth inning when the Braves brought in a pitch hitter for Hudson. The Braves ended the 0-0 scoreless tie in the eighth as, with the bases loaded, via a single by pinch hitter Matt Diaz, and walks by Michael Bourn and Chipper Jones, and with two men out, Freddie Freeman walked, forcing in Diaz, giving the Braves a 1-0 lead, while moving up a base both Bourn and Jones, leaving the bases loaded. The Braves then took a 5-0 lead as Brian McCann followed up with a grand-slam home run, his eleventh home run of the season, knocking in Bourn, Jones and Freeman. That would end up being the final score as Chad Durbin threw a 1-2-3 ninth.

Kyle Kendrick received a no-decision as he threw seven scoreless innings, giving up just four hits, a walk and a hit batter, while he struck out five. Antonio Bastardo (2-3, 5.34) took the lost as he pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up five runs on two hits and three walks. Michael Schwimer pitched a third of an inning, striking out a batter. Jeremy Horst pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two. Tim Hudson (7-4, 3.56) got the win as he pitched seven scoreless inning, giving up four hits, a walk, and hitting a batter. Eric O’Flaherty and Chad Durbin combined for two scoreless innings, giving up a hit (O’Flaherty) and a walk (O’Flaherty) between them, while striking out two (O’Flaherty).

The Phils had only five hits in the game, with Ryan Howard (Single, Double), as he made his first appearance in the line-up for 2012, leading the team with two hits.
