The Phils spring training losing streak continue as they end up in a 2-2 tie with the Braves.

Philadelphia_PhilliesThe Phils end up in a 2-2 tie with the Braves as their present five-game win-less streak continues.

The Braves took the lead in the top of the fourth as, with the bases loaded, via a lead-off single by Chris Johnson, a walk by Dan Uggla, sending Johnson up to second base, and, after Andrelton Simmons strikes out, swinging, a one-out single by Steven Lerud, moving up both runners, and with one man out, Joey Terdoslavich hits into an RBI force out, 6-4, scoring Johnson, as Lerud is forced out at second base for the inning’s second out, giving the Braves a 1-0 lead, while Uggla moved up to third base, as Terdoslavich was safe at first. The Phils would tie the game up at one-all in their half of the fourth as, with two men on, and with two men out, Kevin Frandsen hits an RBI single, knocking in Bobby Abreu, who was earlier hit by the pitch, then moved up to second base on Darin Ruf’s single, while sending Ruf, who had earlier singled, up to third base, before moving up to second base on the throw to the plate. The Phils then took the lead in the bottom of the seventh as, with two men on, and with one man out, Tony Gwynn, Jr. hits into an RBI force out, 6-3, knocking in Frandsen, who had started the inning off with a single, moved up to second base on Cameron Rupp’s single, then moved on to third base on Reid Brignac’s sacrifice bunt, 1-3, giving the Phils a 2-1 lead, while sending pinch runner Tyson Gillies, who was pinch running for Rupp, and had moved up to second base on Brignac’s sac bunt, on to third base. The Braves would tie the game up at two-all in the top of the ninth as, with a man on third, and with one man out, Matt Lipka reaches first base on a fielder’s choice ground ball that is hit to second baseman Cesar Hernandez, who then throws home to catcher Tommy Joseph to try and gun down Jose Constanza, who had started the inning off with a double, then moved up to third base on Joseph’s passed ball, soon getting Constanza in a run down between third and home before he is tagged out by pitcher Brad Lincoln, 4-2-5-1, for the inning’s second out. Meanwhile, Lipka would move up to second base on the run down, and attempts to go on to third base, which prompts an errant throw to third to shortstop Andres Blanco covering, allowing Lipka to score on the throwing error. That would be the final score as Shae Simmons threw a 1-2-3 ninth.
