The Phils go to Cleveland to begin their second Interleague Series of the year as they prepare to face the Indians.

The Phils start the series tonight with a night game. The game will be played at Progressive Field and will begin at 7:05 pm EDT. The Phils will send to the mound Roy Halladay (2-2, 5.08) who is coming off a no-decision against the Pirates on April 24, as he went six innings, giving up a run on a hit and two walks, while striking out eight, in the Phils’ 5-3 lost. Halladay will be looking for his fourth straight quality start and his third straight win, after having been crushed for 13 runs in his first two starts of 2013. The Indians will send to the mound Zach McAllister (1-3, 3.52), who is coming off a lost against the White Sox on April 24, as he went five and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on five hits and five walks, while striking out four, in the Indians’ 3-2 lost. He will be trying to cool off the presently red-hot Phils’ offense. The Phils will be out to increase their present winning streak to four games, while trying to win the opener in their second series against an American League team.

The Phils, two days after the return of Carlos Ruiz, who on Sunday went one for four (.250) with a double, actually reaching base twice as he was safe at first on a fielding error, have just activated Delmon Young, who have just finished his rehabbing assignment with the Iron Pigs, after having hit .367 (11 for 30) with two doubles and two RBIs in seven starts with both Class A Clearwater and the Iron Pigs. The Phils, to make room on their roster for D. Young, have designated for assignment outfielder Ezequiel Carrera, who, in 13 games, have batted just .077 (1 for 13), with a walk and two runs scored.

The Phils took the lead in the top of the second as, with the bases loaded, via a single by Laynce Nix, leading off the inning, a double by Erik Kratz, with Nix stopping at third base, and a walk to Cliff Lee, and with nobody out, Nix would score on Ben Revere’s force out grounder to the shortstop, 6-4, for the inning’s first out, as Lee is wiped out at second base, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead, as Kratz moved up to second base, and Revere is safe at first. The Phils increased their lead two batters later as, with the bases once again loaded, after Revere steals second base, and Jimmy Rollins gets on base with a walk, and with one man still out, Chase Utley hits a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Kratz, who beats the throw home, giving the Phils a 2-0 lead. That would end up being all the run the Phils would need as Lee would keep the Braves’ offense under control for eight shutout innings, allowing only three men to reach base, a two-out single in the bottom of the second to Dan Uggla, a one-out single by Justin Upton in the bottom of the fourth, before he is wiped out on a 6-3 doubleplay grounder hit by Freddie Freeman, and Gerald Laird who, in the bottom of the sixth, lead off the inning by reaching base on a fielding error by Utley, before being left stranded. Jonathan Papelbon would then take over in the ninth and collect his first save of the season as he throws a 1-2-3 ninth.

Cliff Lee (1-0, 0.00) got the win as he threw eight scoreless inning, giving up two hits, while he struck out eight. Jonathan Papelbon recorded his first save of the season as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two. Kris Medlen (0-1, 3.60) took the lost as he went five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out three. Cory Gearrin, Jordan Walden and Anthony Varvaro combined for four scoreless innings, giving up two hits (Walden (1), Varvaro (1)) between them, while striking out only one Phil (Varvaro).

The Phils had eight hits in the game, with Jimmy Rollins (Single, Double) leading the team with two hits. The Phils took a 1-0 lead in the sixth, breaking up a 0-0 tie, as Jimmy Rollins hits a lead-off home run, his seventh home run of the season. The Rays took the lead in the eighth as, with two men on, and with one man out, Carlos Pena hits a three-run home run, knocking in Elliot Johnson, who had started the inning off with a run, then moved up to second base on B.J. Upton’s walk, and Upton, who had just walked, giving the Rays a 3-1 lead. The Phils would get a run back in their half of the eighth as, with runners on the corners, and with one man out, Ty Wigginton hits an RBI single, knocking in Hunter Pnce, who had earlier doubled, then went to third base on Carlos Ruiz’s single, making it a 3-2 Ray’s lead, while sending Ruiz, who had just singled, over to third base. That would end up being the final score as Fernando Rodney recorded his twenty-first save of the year as he recorded a scoreless ninth, striking out Pence, swinging, to end the game.

Cole Hamels received a no-decision as he threw seven scoreless innings, giving up just three hits and three walks, while he struck out seven. Antonio Bastardo blew his second save attempt of the year, before taking the lost (2-2, 3.75) as he pitched a third of an inning, giving up three runs on a hit and two walks. Chad Qualls pitched two-thirds of an inning, walking a batter. Michael Schwimer threw a 1-2-3 inning. David Price (10-4, 2.95) got the win a he pitched seven innings, giving up a run on four hits and three walks, while he struck out eight. Burke Badenhop collected his third hold of the season as he pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a run on three hits and a walk, while striking out a batter. Jake McGee collected his eighth hold of the year as he pitched a third of an inning, getting out the only man that he would face. Fernando Rodney collected his twenty-first save of the season as he threw a scoreless inning, giving up a hit, while striking out two.

The Phils got a run back in their half of the sixth as, with a man on first, and with nobody out, Polanco hits an RBI double, his second of the game, knocking in Pence, who had started the inning off with a walk, cutting the Rays’ lead down to 6-3, before moving on to third base on the throw to the plate. The Rays made it a 6-3 lead in the eighth as, with the bases loaded, via walks by Upton,  who then stole second base, Zobrist, and Conrad, and with two men out Jose Lobaton forced in a run with a walk, scoring Upton, while moving both Zobrist and Conrad up a base, leaving the bases loaded. The Rays then took a 7-3 lead as Brandon Gomes forced in a run with a walk, forcing in Zobrist, while both Conrad and Lobaton moved up a base. That would be the final score as J.P. Howell pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.

Cliff Lee (0-4, 3.72) took the lost as he pitched seven innings, giving up five runs on six hits and three walks, while striking out nine. B.J. Rosenberg pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up two runs on four walks. Jake Diekman pitched an inning and a third, giving up a walk, while striking out three. Cesar Ramos received a no-decision as he pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up three walks, while striking out two. Wade Davis pitched two and two-thirds innings, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out two. Brandon Gomes (2-2, 3.97) got the win as he threw two and two-thirds scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk, while striking out one. J.P. Howell pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out a batter.

The Phils will send to the mound Joe Blanton (6-6, 5.04), who is coming of a no-decision against the Rockies on June 20, as he went seven innings, giving up five runs on six hits, while striking out six, in the Phils’ 7-6 walk-off win. He will be trying for his third straight winning start. The Pirates will counter with Jeff Karstens (0-1, 4.50), who is coming off a no-decision against the D-backs on April 17, his last previous start in the majors, as he pitched just an inning, giving up two runs on three hits, in the Pirates’ 5-4 win. He’ll be trying for his first win of 2012. The Phils will be out to start their final series of the homestand on a good note.

The Rays took the lead in the second as, with two men on, and with 0ne man out, Jeff Keppinger hits a two-run double, knocking in Ben Zobrist, who had earlier singled, then moved up to second base on Jose Lobaton’s walk, and Lobaton, who had just walked, giving the Rays a 2-0 lead, before moving up to third base on second baseman Michael Martinez’s throwing error. The Rays then took a 3-0 lead as, two batters later, Keppinger scored on James Shield’s ground out, 6-3, while Elliot Johnson, who has just walked, moved up to second base. The Phils got two runs back in the third as, with a man on first, and with nobody out, Jimmy Rollins hits a two-run home run, his sixth home run of the year, knocking in Kyle Kendrick, who had started the inning off with a walk, making it a 3-2 Rays’ lead. The Phils took a quick 1-0 lead in the first as Jimmy Rollins hits a lead-off home run, his fifth home run of the season, and his 39th career lead-off home run. The score would remain 1-0 Phils until the seventh when, with one man on, and with two men out, Chris Nelson hits a two-run home run, his fifth home run of the year, knocking in Tyler Colvin, who had earlier doubled, giving the Rockies a 2-1 lead. The Rockies increased their lead in the ninth as, with a runner on first, and with two men out, Wilin Rosario hits a two-run home run, his eleventh home run of the year, scoring pinch hitter Todd Helton, who had earlier walked, giving the Rockies a 4-1 lead. That would end up being the final score as Rafeal Bentoncourt recorded his eleventh save of the season as he threw a 1-2-3 ninth.

The Phils (33-38, 5th NL East) resumes interleague play with a series with the Rays (38-31, 3rd AL East) with a night game tonight, depending on the weather. The Phils will send to the mount Cliff Lee (0-3, 3.64), who is coming off a no-decision against the Blue Jays on June 16, as he went seven innings, giving up five run on twelve hits and a walk, while striking out three, in the Phils’ 6-5 extra-innings lost. Lee continues to look for his first win of 2012, hoping that he’ll get it this time. The Rays will counter with James Shields (4-4, 4.16), who is coming off a no-decision against the Marlins on June 16, as he threw seven and two-thirds innings, giving up three unearned runs on nine hits and a walk, while striking out five, in the Rays’ 4-3 extra-innings lost. He’ll be out to improve his record. The Phils will be trying to give Lee his first win of 2012.

The Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead in the second as, with a runner on second, and with two men out, Brett Lawrie hits an RBI double, knocking in Rajai Davis, who had just doubled. The Blue Jays added to their lead in the third as, with a man on first, and with nobody out, Jose Bautista, who had started the inning off with a single, would score on a force attempt throwing error by third baseman Mike Fontenot on a sharp groundball hit by Edwin Encarncion as Fontenot threw away what was a sure double play ball into right field, allowing Bautista to reach first second base, then third, before finally crossing the plate, giving the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead, while allowing Encarnacion, who was safe at first base, to reach third base. Two batters later, the Blue Jays took a 3-0 lead as Yunel Escobar hits an RBI ground out, 6-3, knocking in Encarnacion. That would be the final score as Casey Janssen recorded his sixth save of the year as he threw a scoreless ninth.

Vance Worley (3-3, 2.80) took the lost as he threw seven innings, giving up three runs, only one of which was earned, on five hits and two walks, while striking out five. Michael Schwimer pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit, while striking out a batter. Drew Hutchison received a no-decision as he went two-thirds of an inning, striking out a batter, before being taken out with an elbow injury as he was facing his third batter of the game. Aaron Laffey also received a no-decision as he pitched an inning and a third in relief, giving up just a hit and a walk. Carlos Villanueva (2-0, 3.48) got the win as he threw four scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and two walks, while he struck out five. Jason Frasor collected his eighth hold of the season as he threw a scoreless inning, walking a batter, while striking out one. Darren Oliver received his sixth hold of the year as he threw a scoreless inning, giving up a hit, while striking out a batter. Casey Janssen collected his sixth save of the season with a scoreless inning, as he gave up a hit.

The Phils added to their lead in the second as, with one man on, and with one man out, Mike Fontenot hits a two-run home run, his first home run of the year, knocking in John Mayberry, Jr., who had earlier reached base on a fielder’s choice ground out as Ty Wigginton, who had started the inning off with a double, is thrown out at third base, 6-5, for the inning’s first out, then stole second base, giving the Phils a 3-0 lead. The Phils then took a 4-0 lead four batters later as, with runners on the corners, and now with two men out, Thome hits a ground-rule double, knocking in Juan Pierre, who had earlier tripled, while sending Pence, who had just been hit by the pitch, on to third base. The Phils will send to the mound Vance Worley (3-2, 3.38), who is coming off a no-decision against the Dodgers on June 4, as he went four innings, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks, while striking out four, in the Phils’ 4-3 lost. He will be trying for his first win since coming off the disabled list.  The Orioles will counter with Tommy Hunter (2-3, 5.59), who is coming off a lost to the Blue Jays on May 28, as he went just three innings, giving up five runs on nine hits, in the Orioles’ 6-2 lost. He will be trying to even up his record. The Phils will be trying to expand on their win yesterday to start a new winning streak.

In Saturday’s game, the Red Sox took the lead in the first as Mike Aviles started the game off with a lead-off home run, his seventh home run of the season, giving the Red Sox’s a 1-0 lead.
