The Phils took the lead in the second as, with two men out, Raul Ibanez hits a solo home run, his eighteenth home run of the year, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead. The Braves would tie the game up at one-all in the sixth as, with one man on, and with one man out, Chipper Jones hits an RBI single, scoring Michael Bourn, who had earlier doubled. The Braves took the lead in the seventh as, with a man on second, and with one man out, Freedie Freeman hits an RBI single, knocking in Jason Heyward, who had earlier singled, then wen to second base on Alex Gonzalez’s sacrifice bunt, 1-4. The Phils would tie the game up at two-all in the eighth as, with one man on, and with two men out, Placido Polanco hits an RBI single, scoring pinch hitter John Mayberry, Jr., who had earlier singled, then went to second base on pinch hitter Wilson Valdez’s sacrifice bunt, 5-4. The Phils then won the game in the ninth as, with two men on, and with one man out, pinch hitter Ross Gload hits an RBI single, knocking in Ibanez, who had earlier walked, then moved up to second base on Carlos Ruiz’s single, giving the Phils a 3-2 walk-off win.

Roy Oswalt received a no-decision as he pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on four hits and four walks, while striking out seven. Antonio Bastardo pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk. Ryan Madson (4-2, 2.79) got the win as he pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit. Brandon Beachy also received a no-decision, as he went five and two-thirds innings, giving up a run on two hits and a walk, while striking out seven. Eric O’Flaherty pitched one and a third scoreless innings, striking out two. The Phils took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Jimmy Rollins started off the game for the Phils by launching the first pitch into the left center field seats for a home run, his fourteenth home run of the year. The D-backs then took the lead in the second as, with one man on, and with nobody out, Paul Goldschmidt hits a two-run home run, his third home run of the year, knocking in Chirs Young, who had lead off the inning with a walk, giving the D-backs a 2-1 lead. The Phils then tied the game up at two-all in their half of the second as, with one man on, and with nobody out, John Mayberry, Jr. hits an RBI single, scoring Hunter Pence, who had started the inning off with a double. The game then became a pitchers’ duel between the Phils’ starter Cliff Lee, who only gave up only two more hits after the homer to Goldschmidt, and one more walk after the walk to Young, for the next five innings, while striking out a total of seven batters, and D-backs’ starter Joe Saunders, who would give up no more hits during the next four innings that he’d pitched, while walking a total of three Phils, as he struck out three. The Phils then retook the lead in the seventh as, with two men on, and with nobody out, Wilson Valdez hits a two-run double, scoring Pence, who had earlier walked, then went to third base on Mayberry’s single, and Mayberry, who had just singled, giving the Phils a 4-2 lead. The Phils then made it a 5-2 lead as, with a runner now on third, as Valdez moved up a base on Brian Schneider’s sacrifice bunt, 5-4, and with one man out, pinch hitter Ben Francisco hits a sacrifice fly, scoring Valdez. The Phils then broke the game wide open in the eighth as, with two men on, and with nobody out, Ryan Howard, who had started the inning off with a single, then stopped at second base on Pence’s single, scored from second base on Mayberry’s infield single, as third baseman Cody Ransom committed a throwing error, giving the Phils a 6-2 lead, while Pence, who had just singled, would stop at second base.  Two batters later, after a force attempt throwing error by relief pitcher Brad Ziegler on a Valdez grounder loaded up the bases, as Pence beat out Ziegler’s throw to third, while Mayberry would stop at second base, and Valdez would be safe at first, Schneider made it a 7-2 Phils’ lead as he hits an RBI single, scoring Pence, while both Mayberry and Valdez would move up a base, leaving the bases still loaded. Two more batters later, with the bases still loaded, and now with one man out, Rollins hits a sacrifice fly, scoring Mayberry, making it an 8-2 Phils’ lead. The Phils then took a 9-2 lead as Shane Victorino hits an RBI double, scoring Valdez, while sending Schneider on to third. That would be the final score as Ryan Madson easily handled the D-backs in the ninth.

Cliff Lee (13-7, 2.83) got the win, becoming the third Phils starter to reach thirteen wins, as he pitched seven innings, giving up just two runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out seven. Antonio Bastardo received his twelfth hold of the season as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Ryan Madson pitched a scoreless innings, giving up a walk, while striking out a batter. Joe Saunders (8-10, 3.91) took the lost as he went six innings, plus three batters, giving up five runs on five hits and four walks, while striking out three. Joe Paterson pitched an inning, giving up two hits. Brad Ziegler pitched to four batters, getting none of them out, as he gave up fours runs, only one of which was earned, on three hits and a walk. Zach Duke pitched an inning, giving up two hits.

The Phils (79-42, 1st East) will conclude their series with the D-backs (69-54, 1st West) with a night game tonight. The game will start at 7:05 pm EDT and will be played at Citizens Bank Park. The Phils took the lead in the first as, with a runner on third, and with two men out, Ryan Howard hits an RBI infield single, knocking in Shane Victorino, who had earlier doubled, then went to third on Chase Utley’s ground out, 4-3, giving the Phils a 1-0 lead. The Phils then took a 3-0 lead in the second as, with two men on, and with two men out, Jimmy Rollins hits a two-run double, scoring Carlos Ruiz, who had earlier singled, then went the third on first baseman James Loney’s throwing error of Michael Martinez’s grounder, and Martinez, who was safe at first on Loney’s error, then went to second base on Roy Halladay’s sacrifice bunt, 1-4. The Dodgers got a run back in the fifth as, with two men on, and with one man out, Casey Blake hits an RBI ground out, 6-3, knocking in Jamey Carroll, who had earlier singled, went to second base on Hiroki Kuroda’s bunt single, on a ball that Howard hoped would go foul as it went up the first base line, but didn’t, then went to third on Tony Gwynn, Jr., sacrifice bunt, while Kuroda went to second base, making it a 3-1 Phils’ lead. The Phils added to their lead in the seventh as, with a runner on second, and with two men out, Howard hits an RBI double, knocking in Victorino, who had earlier doubled, giving the Phils a 4-1 lead. The Dodgers got that run back in the eighth as, with a runner on second, and with nobody out, Aaron Miles hits an RBI single, scoring Matt Kemp, who had earlier singled, then stole second base, making it a 4-2 Phils’ lead. Three batters later, with runners on the corners, thanks to a throwing error by Michaeal Stutes as he tried to pick off Miles, allowing him to reach second base, before moving on to third on Laney’s fly out for the inning’s first out, and then a walk to Rod Barajas, before he is replaced by pinch runner Eugenio Velez, pinch hitter Juan Rivera hits an RBI pinch hit single, scoring Miles, making it a 4-3 Phils lead, while sending Velez up to second base.  The Phils then added an insurance run in the ninth as, with one man out, Victorino hits a solo home run, his twelfth home run of the year, making it a 5-3 Phils’ lead. Michael Stutes received his seventh hold of the season as he pitched a third of an inning, giving up two runs on two hits. Brad Lidge recorded his first hold of the year as he pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a hit and a walk. Ryan Madson recorded his twentieth save of the year by pitching a scoreless ninth, giving up a hit, while striking out one. Hiroki Kuroda (7-14, 3.01) took the lost as he went six and a third innings, giving up four runs, three of which were earned, on nine hits and a walk, while he struck out four. Scott Elbert pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a hit and a walk, while striking out a batter. Matt Guerrier pitched a 1-2-3 inning. Mike MacDougal pitched an inning, giving up a run on a hit, as he struck out a batter.

He will be out trying to give the Phils their fourth straight series win. The Giants took a quick 1-0 lead in the second as Pablo Sandoval hits a lead-off home run, his tenth home run of the season.  The Giants added to their lead in the fourth as, with one man on, and with two men out, Nate Schierholtz hits an RBI single, scoring Aubrey Huff, who had just doubled, giving the Giants a 2-0 lead. The Giants then increased their lead in the seventh as, with runners on the corners, and with one man out, Aaron Rowand hits a grounder to third baseman Michael Martinez, who then bobbled the ball, allowing Shierholtz, who had earlier walked, then went to third on Chris Steward’s single, to score, giving the Giants a 3-0 lead, before throwing the ball away, allowing Rowand to be safe at first on the throwing error, while allowing Steward, who had earlier singled, to go around first second, and then third, before scoring, giving the Giants a 4-0 lead, before Rowand would move up to second base on the error. The Phils would finally get on the scoreboard in their half of the seventh as, with runners on the corners, and with two men out, Chase Utley, after ruining three previous opportunities to knock in a run, hits an RBI double, scoring Carlos Ruiz, who had earlier doubled, then went to third on pitcher Ramon Ramirez’s fielding error of a Martinez’s grounder, cutting the Giants’ lead down to 4-1, while sending Martinez, who had reached base on an error, on to third base. That would end up being the final score as Brian Wilson recorded his thirty-third save of the season by shutting down the Phils in the ninth.

Kyle Kendrick (5-5, 3.52) took the lost as he went six and a third innings, giving up four runs, only three of which were earned, on six hits and two walks, while he struck out four. Juan Perez pitched a third of an inning, getting out the only man that he would face. Brad Lidge also pitched a third of an inning, getting out the only man that he would face. Michael Stutes and David Herndon combined to pitch a pair of 1-2-3 innings. Tim Lincecum (9-8, 2.78) got the win as he threw six scoreless innings, giving up only three hits and four walks, while striking out six. Ramon Ramirez pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up an unearned run on a hit, while striking out one. Jeremy Affeldt received his eleventh hold of the year as he pitched an inning, giving up a hit. Sergio Romo collected his eighteenth hold of the season as he pitched a third of an inning, getting out the only man who he would face. Brian Wilson received his thirty-third save of the season by pitching a scoreless ninth, giving up a hit, while striking out two batters.

The Giants took the lead in the first as, with a man on third, and with one man out, Pablo Sandoval hits a sacrifice fly, knocking in Andres Torres, who had earlier doubled, then stopped at third on Jeff Keppinger’s ground out, 6-3, giving the Giants a 1-0 lead. The Phils tied it up at one-all in their half of the first as, with one man on, and with two men out, Ryan Howard hits an RBI double, knocking in Chase Utley, who had earlier singled. Two batters later, after Shane Victorino had walked, Raul Ibanez gave the Phils the lead as he hits a three-run home run, his fourteenth home run of the season, giving the Phils a 4-1 lead. The Phils added to their lead in the fourth as, with two men out, John Mayberry Jr. hits a solo home run, his sixth home run of the year, giving the Phils a 5-1 lead. The Phils then took a 6-1 lead in the sixth as Utley lead-off the inning hitting a hard ball to left center field that hit against the fence, before bouncing away from center fielder Torres, which allowed Utley, who was running all the way, to cross home plate, before the throw, with an iniside-the-park home run, his seventh home run of the season, and the third itp home run of his career. The Giants got a run back in the eighth as, with two men out, pinch hitter Aaron Rowand hits a solo pinch hit home run, his fourth home run of the season, cutting the Phils’ lead down to 6-2. The Phils would get the run back in their half of the eighth as, with two men out, Howard hits a monster shot to center field, his twentieth home run of the year, giving the Phils a 7-2 lead. That would be the final score as Vance Worley would complete his first career complete game by pitching an easy ninth. 

Vance Worley (7-1, 2.02) got the win as he pitched a complete game, giving up just two runs on three hits and a walk, while he struck out five. Barry Zito, who was pitching in place of a sick Tim Lincecum (stomach flu), took the lost (3-3, 5.24), as he went seven inning, giving up six runs on six hits and two walks, while striking out four. Guillermo Mota pitched an inning, giving up a run on a hit.

The Phils had seven hits in the ballgame, with Chase Utley (Single, Home Run, RBI), Ryan Howard (Double, Home Run, 2 RBI) and John Mayberry, Jr. (Double, Home Run, RBI) all leading the team with two hits apiece. Raul Ibanez had the other Phil hit, a three-run home run, knocking in three runs.

He will be going for win number thirteen. The Giants will counter with Matt Cain (8-6, 3.06), who is coming off a lost to the Brewers, as he went six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk, while striking out two, in the Giants’ 4-2 lost. He will be trying to even up the series for the Giants. The Phils will be going for their tenth straight series win tonight.

The National League wins the All-Star Game for the second straight year as they defeat the American League, 5-1.

The American League took the lead in the All-Star Game in the fourth as, with two men out, Adrian Gonzalez of the Red Sox hits a solo home run off of the Phils’ Cliff Lee, giving the AL a 1-0 lead. The AL tried to make it a 2-0 lead three batters later as, with runners on first and second, via singles by Jose Bautista of the Blue Jays, as first baseman Prince Fielder of the Brewers was unable to catch his pop fly, and Josh Hamilton of the Rangers, sending Bautista up to second base, Adrian Beltre of the Rangers hits a single to left. Bautista tried to score on the hit, but is gun down at home plate by a strong throw from left fielder Hunter Pence, as catcher Brian McCann of the Braves applied the tag, 7-2, for the inning’s final out. The National League then took the lead in their half of the fourth as, with two men on, via singles by Carlos Beltran of the Mets and Matt Kemp of the Dodgers, with Beltran stopping at second base, and with no one out, Fielder crushed a 2-2 cutter into center field for a three-run home run, scoring both Beltran and Kemp, giving the NL a 3-1 lead. The NL added to their lead in the fifth as, with a man on second, and with two men out, pinch hitter Andre Ethier of the Dodgers hits an RBI single, knocking in Rickie Weeks of the Brewers, who had earlier reached first base on a fielder’s choice force out, as pitcher Jordon Walden of the Angels threw home to beat out Starlin Castro of the Cubs, who was pinch running for Troy Tulowitzki of the Rockies who had earlier singled, after he had first stolen second base, and then third, as he was tagged out at the plate by catcher Alex Avila of the Tigers for the inning’s second out, 1-2, before Weeks stole second base, giving the NL a 4-1 lead, before he was thrown out at second base as right fielder Bautista’s throw towards home was cut off by first baseman Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers, who then threw to shortstop Jhonny Peralta of the Tigers, who then tagged Ethier out at second base for the inning’s final out, 9-3-6. The NL then made it a 5-1 lead in the seventh as, with a runner on third, and with one man out, Pablo Sandoval of the Giants hits a RBI ground-rule double to left, knocking in Pence, who head earlier singled, then went all the way to third on catcher Matt Wieters of the Orioles passed ball. That would be the final score as Brian Wilson of the Giants would record a save as he got out the last two batters, Michael Cuddyer of the Twins vis a fly out to right and then Paul Konerko of the White Sox via a ground out, 6-3, after the AL had put runners on second and third, via Carlos Quentin of the White Sox reaching base on shortstop Castro’s throwing error and a single by Matt Joyce of the Rays, which sent Quentin to third base, before he went on to second base on right fielder Jay Bruce of the Reds throwing error.

The victory gives the National League a 42-38-2 lead over the American League, while it will also give the National League pennant winner home field advantage during the upcoming World Series.

The Phils take a walk-off win as they scored the only run to end a scoreless game in the ninth as they defeat the A’s, 1-0.

The game was a pitchers’ duel between both teams’ pitching staffs as their respective offenses would get only two hits apiece, along with five walks each, through the first eight innings. In the top of the ninth, Michael Stutes would throw an eight-pitch inning, as he would strike out two A’s on six pitches, before getting Kurt Suzuki to end the inning by popping out to Chase Utley. The Phils then went to work as Shane Victorino got on base with a walk from Brian Fuentes. After Raul Ibanez flied out to left for the inning’s first out, Dom Brown followed with a single to right, his second hit of the night, moving Victorino up to second base. The runners then both moved up a base on a ground out to first by Brian Schneider, who had just returned from the DL, putting runners on second and third, with two men out. The next batter, pinch hitter Ben Francisco, then hit a single to left, which would score Victorino, that would be the winning run for the Phils as they took a 1-0 walk-off win from the A’s.

Vance Worley received a no-decision as he pitched six scoreless innings, missing a no-hit bid as Kurt Suzuki had a two-out double in the top of the sixth, giving up a hit and four walks, while striking out four. David Herndon and Juan Perez combined for two scoreless innings, giving up a hit (Herndon) and a walk (Herndon), while striking out one man (Herndon) between them. Michael Stutes (3-0, 2.28) got the win as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out two. Guillermo Moscoso also received a no-decision as he went seven scoreless innings, as he also had a no-hit bid broken up in the sixth, as Placido Polanco had a one-out single, as he gave up two hits and three walks, while striking out two. Joey Devine pitched a scoreless inning, as he gave up two walks. Brian Fuentes (1-8, 4.76) took the lost as he pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a run on two hits and a walk.

The Phils had only four hits in the game, with Dom Brown leading the team with two hits, both singles. Placido Polanco (Single) and pinch hitter Ben Francisco (Single, RBI), had the other two Phils’ hits, with Francisco’s hit plating the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.

The Phils (48-29, 1st NL East) will continue their interleague play series with the A’s (34-43, 4th AL West) tomorrow night at Citizens Bank Park. The game will start at 7:05 pm EDT. The Phils will send to the mound Cole Hamels (9-3, 2.51), who is coming off a lost against the Mariners on June 19, as he pitched six and one-third innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, as he struck out six, in the Phils’ 2-0 lost. Hamels will once again try for his tenth win of the season. The A’s will try to counter with Trevor Cahill (7-5, 3.24), who is coming off a win against the Giants on June 19, as he went eight innings, giving up a run on five hits and a walk, while striking out seven, in the A’s 2-1 win. He will be trying to even the series for the A’s. The Phils will be going for their second straight series win.

The first five and one-half innings of the game was a pitchers’ duel between Mariners’ starter Jason Vargas, as he gave up only two hits and two walks, while striking out four for six innings, and Phils’ starter Cole Hamels, who spent five innings giving up just two hits, as he struck out six, getting his 1000th career strikeout with the sixth one. The Mariners then took the lead in their half of the sixth as, with a runner on second, and with one man out, Justin Smoak hits an RBI single, scoring Ichiro Suzuki, who had earlier singled, moved up to second base on Brendan Ryan’s ground out, 6-3, giving the Mariners a 1-0 lead. The Mariners then increased their lead in the seventh as, with a man on third, and with one man out, pinch hitter Adam Kennedy hits an RBI single, knocking in Dustin Ackley, who had earlier tripled, the first triple of his career, giving the Mariners a 2-0 lead. That would be the final score as Vargas would throw a complete game shut out.

Cole Hamels (9-3, 2.51) took the lost as he went six and one-third innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, while he would strike out six, including his 1000th career strikeout. Jose Contreras pitched two-thirds of an inning, getting out the only man that he would face as part of a doubleplay. David Herndon pitched a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk. Jason Vargas (5-4, 3.75) got the win as he pitched a complete game shutout, giving up three hits and two walks, while he would strike out six.

The Phils had only three hits in the game, with Ryan Howard leading the team with two hits, both singles. Ben Francisco had the other Phil hit, a single, as Vargas kept the Phils’ bats under control.

The Phils (45-28, 1st East) will have the day off tomorrow, before facing the Cardinals (40-33, T-1st Central) on Tuesday night in St. Louis for three.

The Mets jump to a quick 1-0 lead in the first as, with a runner on third, and with nobody out, Justin Turner hits an RBI ground out, 6-3, scoring Jose Reyes, who had earlier tripled, thanks in part to Raul Ibanez trying to make a diving catch on a ball he should had let drop in for a single, and then got past him. The Mets then took a 2-0 lead as, with runners on the corners, and with two men out, Jason Bay, who had earlier singled, then went to third base on Daniel Murphy’s single, scores on Jimmy Rollins’ fielding error of an Angel Pagan grounder that he was unable to grab cleanly, allowing Pagan to be safe at first, while Murphy, who had earlier singled, would reach second base. The Mets then took a 3-0 lead as Josh Thole hits an RBI single, scoring Murphy, while sending Pagan to second base. Ruben Tejada then gave the Mets a 4-0 lead with an RBI single, knocking in Pagan, while sending Thole to second base. The Mets then added to their lead in the second as, with runners on the corners, and with two men out, Murphy hits an RBI single, scoring Carlos Beltran, who had earlier doubled, then went to third on Bay’s single, giving the Mets a 5-0 lead, while sending Bay, who had just singled, up to second base. The Mets then made it a 6-0 lead as Pagan hits an RBI single, knocking in Bay, while sending Murphy over to third. The Mets then took an 8-0 lead as Thole hits a two-run double, scoring both Murphy and Pagan, before being caught off of second base, and then being tagged out, 9-5-6, for the final out. The Phils got a run back in the third as, with the bases loaded, via a single by Dane Sardinha, who then moved up to second base as Rollins is safe at first as Reyes commits a fielding error as he let the ball go between his legs on Rollins’ grounder, and then a single by Wilson Valdez, moving both Sardinha and Rollins up a base, and with two men out, Placido Polanco hits an RBI single, scoring Sardinha, making it an 8-1 Mets’ lead, while sending Rollins to third base, and Valdez up to second base. The Mets would get the run back in the fifth as, with one man on, and with two men out, Reyes hits an RBI triple, his second triple of the game, scoring Thole, who had earlier singled, giving the Mets a 9-1 lead. The Phils then started a comeback attempt in the eighth as Ibanez hits a lead-off home run, his seventh home run of the year, making it a 9-2 Mets’ lead. Four batters later, with one man on, and with two men out, Sardinha hits an RBI double, knocking in Ben Francisco, who had earlier singled, cutting the Mets’ lead down to 9-3. The Phils then cut it down to 9-4 as pinch hitter Dom Brown hits an RBI single, knocking in Sardinha. The Phils then cut it down to 9-5 in the ninth as, with one man on, and with two men out, Francisco hits an RBI double, scoring Ibanez, who had just walked. But that would be the final score as John Mayberry, Jr. ended the game by striking out, swinging.

Vance Worley (2-1, 3.75) took the lost as he pitched three innings, giving up eight runs, five of which were earned, on twelve hits, while striking out one, as he was not sharped yesterday, and getting no help from the defense. Kyle Kendrick pitched three innings, giving up a run on three hits, while striking out two. J.C. Romero pitched a sharp 1-2-3 inning. Danys Baez pitched a scoreless inning, getting himself out of a bases loaded jam, giving up two hits and a walk. Jon Niese (4-5, 3.92) gets the win as he pitched six and one-third innings, giving up an unearned run on five hits and four walks, while striking out six. Taylor Buchholz pitched an inning and a third, giving up three runs on four hits, while striking out one. Pedro Beato pitched an inning and a third, giving up a run on a hit and a walk, while striking out one.

The Phils had eleven hits in the game, with Jimmy Rollins (Singles), Ben Francisco (Single, Double, RBI) and Dane Sardinha (Single, Double, RBI) all leading the team with two hits each. Wilson Valdez (Single), Placido Polanco (Single, RBI), Raul Ibanez (Home Run, RBI), John Mayberry, Jr. (Double) and pinch hitter Dom Brown (Single, RBI), had the other five Phils’ hit, as the Phils’ offense was unable to climb out of an early hole.

The Mets then added to their lead in the third as, once again, with Reyes on third, via a single, a steal of second base as Turner struck out, and then moving on to third base on a Carlos Beltran fly out, and with two men out, Jason Bay hits an RBI single, scoring Reyes, making it a 2-0 Mets’ lead. The Phils got on the board in the fourth as, with one man on, and with two men out, Raul Ibanez hits an RBI double, scoring Chase Utley, who had earlier doubled, cutting the Mets’ lead to 2-1. The Phils then tied the game up at two-all in the eighth as, with one man on, and with two men out, Utley hits an RBI single, knocking in Jimmy Rollins, who had earlier singled, then stole second base. The Phils then took a 4-2 lead as, with runners on the corners, and with still two men out, Ryan Howard hits a two-run double, scoring Utley, who had earlier stole second base, then went to third on Ronny Paulino’s throwing error and Placido Polanco, who had just walked. The Phils then made it a 5-2 lead in the ninth as, with one man on, and with two men out, pinch hitter Ben Francisco hits an RBI double, scoring Dom Brown, who had earlier doubled. That would be the final score as Ryan Madson pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, recording his eleventh save of the season.

Cole Hamels (7-2, 3.01) got the win as he pitched seven innings, giving up two runs on seven hits, striking out ten. Jose Contreras received his first hold of the year as he pitched a 1-2-3 inning, striking out one. Ryan Madson then recorded his eleventh save of the year with a 1-2-3 inning. Mike Pelfrey received a no-decision as he pitched seven and two-third innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks. Michael O’Connor committed his first blown save of the year, before taking the lost (0-1, 1.35) as he pitched to one batter, giving up a run on a hit to the only man that he faced. Jason Isringhausen also pitched to one batter, giving up a run, as the batter that he faced walked. Tim Byrdak pitched a third of an inning, giving up a hit, while striking out a batter. Dale Thayer pitched an inning, giving up a run on two hits.

The Phils had eight hits in the game, with Chase Utley (Single, Double, RBI) and Dom Brown (Single, Double) both leading the team with two hits each. Jimmy Rollins (Single), Ryan Howard (Double, 2 RBIs), Raul Ibanez (Double, RBI) and pinch hitter Ben Francisco (Double, RBI) had the other four Phils’ hits, as the offense seems to be getting into a grove since Utley’s return to the line-up.

The Phils (33-19, 1st) will conclude their three-games series with the Mets (23-28, 4th ) tomorrow with an afternoon game. The game will be played at Citi Field and will begin at 1:10 pm EDT. Vance Worley (2-0, 2.14) will start for the Phils, coming off a no-decision against the Reds on May 24, as he went five innings, giving up three runs on six hits and four walks, while striking out three, in the Phils’ 6-3 lost. He will once again try for his third win. The Mets will counter with Jon Niese (3-5, 4.33), who is coming off a lost against the Cubs on May 24, as he pitched five innings, giving up six runs, only two of which were earned,  on seven hits and a walk, while striking out five, in the Mets’ 11-1 lost. He will be trying to keep the Mets from being swept. The Phils will be out to finish the series with a sweep.
